Abstract: A fairly generalized look at May/December relationships, and relationships between characters with age gaps (of about 10+ years). I've seen a lot of people making "Ew, gross!" faces at certain Fire Emblem pairings over the years, and this annoys the heck out of me...hence the post.

Abstract: I argue that there are several ways to judge whether a pairing might be "canon" (by seeing whether it meets a certain criteria, by comparing it against the character's other options, and by examining the nature of that relationship) and that differences in weighting these metrics cause many fandom disputes. No significant spoilers.
